Step 1: Measure the length and width of your project area in feet (or meters if using metric).

Step 2: Determine the thickness. Standard residential slabs are 4 inches thick. Driveways may require 5-6 inches.

Step 3: Enter your dimensions in the calculator above.

Step 4: Select quantity if you have multiple identical sections.

Step 5: Add 10% waste buffer to ensure you have enough concrete (recommended).

Step 6: Download your report or note the cubic yards for ordering.

Pro tip: For irregular shapes, break into rectangles and calculate separately, then add the results.

Basic Formula:
Volume = Length × Width × Thickness
Cubic Yards Calculation:
Cubic Yards = (L (ft) × W (ft) × T (in)) ÷ 324

Why divide by 324?

  • 27 cubic feet = 1 cubic yard
  • 12 inches = 1 foot
  • 27 × 12 = 324
Bag Calculations:
60 lb bags = Cubic feet ÷ 0.45
80 lb bags = Cubic feet ÷ 0.60
With Waste Factor:
Final Amount = Estimate × (1 + waste%)

Weight Calculation:
Concrete weighs approximately 150 lbs per cubic foot (4,050 lbs per cubic yard).
