Follow these simple steps to calculate the amount of gravel you need:

• Step 1: Measure the length of the area in feet (or meters)
• Step 2: Measure the width of the area in feet (or meters)
• Step 3: Determine the desired depth of gravel in inches (or centimeters)
• Step 4: Select the type of gravel or enter custom density
• Step 5: Enter the price per ton if you want a cost estimate
• Step 6: Adjust the waste factor (10% is recommended for most projects)

Tips for accurate measurements:

• For irregular areas, divide into rectangular sections and calculate each separately
• Always round up when ordering materials
• Consider ordering 10-15% extra for compaction and settling
• Standard driveway depth: 4-6 inches
• Standard pathway depth: 2-4 inches

• Volume (cu ft) = Length (ft) × Width (ft) × Depth (ft)
• Volume (cu yd) = Volume (cu ft) ÷ 27
• Volume (m³) = Volume (cu ft) × 0.0283168

Weight Calculations:

• Weight (lbs) = Volume (cu ft) × Density (lb/cu ft)
• Weight (tons) = Weight (lbs) ÷ 2000
• Weight (kg) = Weight (lbs) × 0.453592

Cost Calculation:

• Cost = Weight (tons) × Price per Ton

Bag Calculations:

• 60 lb bags = Volume (cu ft) ÷ 0.45
• 80 lb bags = Volume (cu ft) 0.60

With Waste Factor:

• Total Volume = Volume × (1 + Waste Factor/100)
