Live polymeric sand estimate

Polymeric Sand Calculator

Estimate polymeric sand for paver joints by paved area, paver size, joint width, joint depth, linear joint length, round patios, or product coverage per bag.

Measurement inputs

Live calculation

Polymeric sand needed Enter paver joint measurements to estimate sand volume, weight, bags, and cost.
Polymeric sand coverage changes by joint width, joint depth, paver shape, compaction, and product brand. Use this as an estimate and check the bag label before buying.
Formula used
Calculation steps

How much polymeric sand do I need?

For paver joints, estimate the joint space first. The calculator uses the paved area, paver size, joint width, and joint depth to find the sand volume. It then converts that volume into pounds, bags, and cost.

How to calculate polymeric sand for pavers

  1. Measure the total paved area.
  2. Enter the paver length and width.
  3. Enter the joint width between pavers.
  4. Enter the joint fill depth.
  5. Add waste for sweeping, compaction, and small loss.
  6. Convert the final weight into bags.

Polymeric sand bag estimate

Most bags are sold by weight. This tool shows 40 lb, 50 lb, 60 lb, 80 lb, and custom bag counts. It rounds every bag count up so the estimate does not leave you short.

FAQs

What does this polymeric sand calculator measure?
It estimates the sand needed to fill paver joints. It does not estimate paver bedding sand below the pavers.
What is the most accurate mode?
The Paver joints mode is best when pavers are regular rectangles. Use Joint % quick for irregular stone or mixed paver patterns.
Can I use bag coverage from the label?
Yes. Use Bag coverage mode when the product label says one bag covers a certain number of square feet.
Why does polymeric sand need waste?
Some sand is lost during sweeping, compaction, cleanup, and uneven joints. A small waste allowance helps avoid buying too little.
Is this the same as patio bedding sand?
No. Polymeric sand fills joints between pavers. Bedding sand sits below pavers. Use the regular Sand Calculator for bedding sand.
